:: life :: 2009 :: merry christmas!

what a year. 2009…in some ways i cant wait for it to be over. but then i think about the blessings that came out of all the trials, and i am thankful. yes, for the sickness, for the heartache, for the pain, for the challenges….for all of it.

In 2009, I went full time as a wedding photographer and shot 22 weddings, 22 life shoots, 18 engagements, and a host of other random photo shoots. never did i ever think i would get here. i have been blessed beyond measure by my insanely wonderful and supportive clients…thank you, each and every one of you. almost every day of my life, i have the awesome opportunity to meet someone new…to photograph, to get to know, to make memories with. and memories that come in the form of digital images…which is by far the coolest way to document cool times in ones life. sometimes i sit around and think, “i’m a photographer. WHAT???”. this year i truly was able to embrace the reality that i am an artist…holy freaky! an artist. i love it and i still cant believe it is my life.

in 2009, i started a photography group just for women, called SoFly. it took guts and lots of encouragement from photographer friends…and with much trepidation i began this journey of learning and growing amidst a group of my peers..all who love and do the same thing; photograph people living life! we have grown close as a group and as friends, and i am so thankful for all you ladies. SoFly has big dreams and this year is going to crazy cool with meetups and workshops. SOFLY GIRLS ROCK!!!

in 2009, i moved twice…was kicked out of my house once, almost lost my husband more than once, and birthed my son. WOW. all i have to say now is that im so thankful for our new home, tremendously happy that my husband is relatively healthy now and still alive, and completely shocked and stoked all at the same time that God gave me Jos. having josiah…that was easily the second coolest day of my life. yea it was difficult, it hurt, it was exhausting and taxing and the hardest thing ive ever done…but it was THE COOLEST experience ever. i still wonder at times how i actually birthed him. it still boggles my mind. and then i realize, hmm. i have God. thats how. and ben and my mom..well, i couldnt have made it through without their help either. i didnt have the best doctors, i was in a ridiculous hospital…but i had me some jesus and yep, thats all i needed. jos is awesome, funny, the most handsome of any little boy ever, and oh so laid back. thank you God a million times over for jos.

in 2009, i learned some hard lessons about faith. about unconditional love for the ones who are supposed to love you most. about holding my tongue. about being patient. about being a true friend. about motherhood and wifehood. i learned some cool things and some of these things i will have to re-learn on a daily basis for the rest of my life. im not gonna lie, that stinks. but in a weird way i look forward to it. it means im being molded and shaped, and after this year i need that!

2010 is going to rock. seriously, its going to be awesome. I’m willing it to rock my socks. i know God will provide and by the looks of it, hes already booked me almost as many weddings next year that i shot this year. unbelievable…i’m simply so blessed and shocked and blessed again. I get to go to WPPI for the very first time, i also get to travel to the Smokies to attend “For the Love” workshop…(cant wait Ginny!!), im traveling to virginia and georgia for weddings, and many more opportunities await me…i just know it. i am so excited for it.

in true “im a photographer” spirit, i ofcourse, cannot leave this blog post void of pictures. here are some from this morning, Christmas morning…Jos’ first Christmas! I got Ben a Lomo and he bought me a beautiful new wedding band:) life is good and we are so blessed to be living it.

Merry Christmas to all my friends, my family, and my ROCKSTAR CLENTS, past and future!
